Super Sedans Start This Weekend
The West Australian Speedway Summer Season will kick off in the far North of the State with the third Annual Savannah Engineers Super Sedan meetings at Newman and Port Hedland, this Saturday and Sunday nights respectively. Both venues are home to rich mining towns, with Newman a short 1200 kilometre trek up the Great Northern Highway from Perth, while 450km further up the road, Port Hedland will host the second night of competition. Premium Drilling will be the naming right sponsors of Super Sedan racing in Western Australia in 2007/2008, a year which will see large growth within the ranks, with several new drivers taking possession of the V8 Sedans. Seventeen drivers have entered to start the Season which will Feature established drivers and several new drivers, including Blake Jackson, a former top line Street Stock competitor who will campaign a RX8 Mazda, similar to that of Peter Lyall. The full field for this weekend is as follows: 43 Marc Giancola (WA1), 15 Troy Brook (WA2), 14 Peter Lyall (WA3), 12 Ric Musarra (WA4), 9 Kemble Aylett (Series Champion 06/07), 76 Terry Green, 91 Darren Larsen, 19 Darren Ahearn (Tom Price), 87 Liam Burke (Tom Price), 8 Neville Hampton (Newman), Warren Minshull (Broome), 10 Robyn Knox, 24 Brent Halliday (Broome), 11 Anton Borro, 41 Blake Jackson (Carnarvon), 110 John Hanlon, 34 Dean Shore (Kalgoorlie). Both nights will see a series of Heats and Feature Races will full race results to follow. Super Sedans will feature on the opening night of the Perth Motorplex season which commences on 27 October 2007, with the State Title at the same venue on Friday and Saturday 23 & 24 November 2007.
