New Committee for SSRC

The Speedway Sedan racing Club held it’s annual meeting for the election of positions for the management committee which also incorporated the clubs AGM on the 14th May at the offices of the Western Australian Speedway Commission.

The mid week meeting date clearly reduced the number of members in attendance with a large number of country people being unable to attend.

The meeting kicked off with the review of the previous AGM and then progressed through the Treasurers report before the main reason for the meeting, the election of office bearers commenced.

With nominations for all positions becoming vacant and the outgoing committee and chairperson not standing for re election the meeting looked to new blood in the form of Kemble Aylett who was elected to the chairpersons role and he will be aptly supported by the new secretary Paula Lyall, wife of long time Carnarvon based super sedan stalwart Peter Lyall. With no nominations for Treasurer, the position was declared vacant pending discussions with a number of persons for the position.

With the key positions filled the meeting looked to elect the executive committee who in effect will be charged with defining and developing the direction that this club will take as the club continues to raise the profile of the Super Sedan division both locally and nationally. Rick Mussara, Keith Higgs, Darren Larson and Peter Lyall were all elected to the committee.

Since drivers of the super sedan division reside far and wide over this big state of ours, it was inevitable (just like the WASCF) that the executive committee would one day be well spread out.  To enable the task of communication easier the committee asks all members to provide their email address.  This will allow us to keep you informed of the latest news and changes.

The first order of business for the newly elected team was to finalise the end of season awards boat cruise which takes place on Saturday the 31st May leaving from the Barrack street jetty from Pier 2 boarding at 6.45pm sharp.

The committee were quick to set about arranging their first executive meeting which will be held to coincide with the awards day.

The key mandate for the new team is to improve the communication between the committee and the members. Further priorities include setting the new seasons calender and ensuring that the drivers are consulted in relation to number of meetings, locations and format.

The committee welcome input from members and in addition to increasing the executive to six people will be looking to fill the following people for the racing control board
            - Chief Steward
            - Assistant Chief Steward
            - Handicapper / Point Scorer
            - Lap Scorer
            - Pit Marshall
            - Chief Machine Examiner
            - Four Scrutineers
