Gary Higgs makes it Back to back SSRC Summer Series  - Friday May 6th-, 10

Topping what can only be described as a spectacular season in WA Super Sedan racing Mr Gary ‘Dusty’ Higgs has taken out consecutive SSRC Summer Series edging out  Season 09/10 Perth Motorplex Track Champion Kodee Brown by a mere margin of 22 points. The announcement was made at the SSRC Presentation Dinner 15th May 2010 at the Runway Café Jandakot Airport amongst a large contingency of guests including a mass of Higgs’s in support. Dustin Higgs was 3rd in the Series signalling this young mans very bright future in the Sport. Higgs senior  won the Overall Feature Points, along with the Club Champion Award, defeating Kodee and Dustin in both. Gary  who put in an incredible performance for the season dedicated the Series Championship trophy to his wife Karen, the couple celebrating their wedding anniversary on the night.

New comer to Group A Super Sedan racing John O'Callaghan took off the Rookie of the Year with hard charger  Micheal Nash being declared Best Improved Driver. The Chief Stewards Award went to Carnarvon's Peter Lyall also sharing the Drivers Driver Award with Keith Higgs. The awards recognised Peters fairness respect and standing in the Division and his incredible dedication—being the most travelled racer over the season. 

Kodee Brown and the Race Team from McCorry Brown Earthmoving won the Best Presented Car for their #77  BR Dominator. Kodee thanked the efforts of all the team in particular Troy Brooks for all his assistance during the season. Kodee also thanked his parents and all his family for their on going and giving support.

SSRC club secretary Mrs Paula Lyall was rewarded for her monumental efforts  and contribution during the season scooping all of  the  non-driver awards in the Rex & Jean Metcalf Memorial - Presidents Trophy; Merv Hine Memorial Dedication Award and the  Geoff Kendrick Club Person of the Year. A variable pocket dynamo Paula works tirelessly keeping members and drivers informed with all that is happening in the Speedway Sedan Racing Club.  

Earlier in the evening Club President Mr Kevin Theyer thanked Season Sponsors Goldfields Crane Hire; Autopro Carnarvon; JT Transport; Gravity Crane Services; Bill Gibbs Excavations and Exide Batteries and Poster Sponsors for their generous support; all his hard working committee and spoke of the positives for the future with 41 different drivers competing in Summer Series and numbers still showing growth. Perth Motorplex Speedway General Manager Mr Gavin Migro highlighted the tracks appreciation of the Divisions breathtaking 3 wide ‘green to chequer’ racing and prefaced more major coverage and events  for Super Sedans in the upcoming 2010/2011 Calender
